Salome (1954)
In 1954 Lindgreen was invited to submit a painting to a Salome art competition, issued by Columbia Pictures, most likely because of the premiere of the film holding the same name. The submissions were exhibited in the Pander & Sons store in The Hague (afterwards the exhibit went on tour through the Netherlands). Awarded were Jan van Heel (1), Matthieu Wiegman (2), Jan Sluyters and Jaap Min (3), which according to a review, had depicted Salome just as Lindgreen, with a platter in her hands holding the head of John the Baptist. Lindgreen hid the hands beneath the platter though. It was a reviewer that noticed that Lindgreen was one of the few that had painted Salome as described in the gospel: as a young girl.
